Blue zirconia ceramic pins are cylindrical pins made from zirconia (ZrO₂) ceramic material, given a blue color by the addition of a specific colorant (usually cobalt blue or a similar metal oxide). Zirconia itself is an advanced ceramic material renowned for its excellent mechanical properties. Besides being aesthetically pleasing, the blue color is sometimes used to distinguish products of different specifications or applications.
Manufacturing Process for Blue Zirconia Ceramic Pins
1. Powder Preparation: High-purity zirconia powder is uniformly mixed with a stabilizer (such as yttrium oxide (Y₂O₃)) and a blue colorant (such as cobalt oxide).
2. Molding: The mixed powder is pressed into the shape of a pin blank through dry pressing, isostatic pressing, or injection molding.
3. Sintering: Sintering in a high-temperature kiln at temperatures exceeding 1500°C fuses the powder particles into a dense, high-strength ceramic body, resulting in the final blue color.
4. Finishing: After sintering, the ceramic parts will shrink and become very hard, and need to be precisely ground and polished using diamond grinding wheels to achieve the required dimensional accuracy (usually up to μm level) and surface finish.
