Product Description

Blue zirconia ceramic pins are cylindrical pins made from zirconia (ZrO₂) ceramic material, given a blue color by the addition of a specific colorant (usually cobalt blue or a similar metal oxide). Zirconia itself is an advanced ceramic material renowned for its excellent mechanical properties. Besides being aesthetically pleasing, the blue color is sometimes used to distinguish products of different specifications or applications.

Manufacturing Process for Blue Zirconia Ceramic Pins

1. Powder Preparation: High-purity zirconia powder is uniformly mixed with a stabilizer (such as yttrium oxide (Y₂O₃)) and a blue colorant (such as cobalt oxide).
2. Molding: The mixed powder is pressed into the shape of a pin blank through dry pressing, isostatic pressing, or injection molding.
3. Sintering: Sintering in a high-temperature kiln at temperatures exceeding 1500°C fuses the powder particles into a dense, high-strength ceramic body, resulting in the final blue color.
4. Finishing: After sintering, the ceramic parts will shrink and become very hard, and need to be precisely ground and polished using diamond grinding wheels to achieve the required dimensional accuracy (usually up to μm level) and surface finish.

Performance Advantages and Applications

The widespread use of blue zirconia ceramic pins stems from the material's inherent excellent properties:
  • Extreme hardness and wear resistance
  • Excellent mechanical strength and high toughness
  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Excellent insulation
  • High temperature resistance
  • Rust-proof and non-magnetic
  • Biocompatibility

These properties have led to their use in numerous high-end industrial and technological fields:
  • Precision machinery and automation: They are used as bearings, ball bearings, guide sliders, rollers for linear guides, and gear pins for gear pumps, providing high precision and long life.
  • Semiconductor manufacturing: They are used as guide pins and positioning pins in wafer handling, transfer, and positioning systems to prevent contamination and wear.
  • Textile Machinery: Its high wear resistance and low friction coefficient effectively reduce fiber wear and thread breakage in applications such as yarn guides, eyelets, and needle holders.
  • Medical Devices: It is used in wear-resistant components of precision surgical instruments, dental handpieces (drills), and inspection equipment.
  • Food and Chemical Equipment: It is used in pump and valve components due to its corrosion resistance and non-contamination properties.
  • Measuring and Testing Equipment: It is used in probes and fixture pins due to its high hardness, deformation resistance, and insulating properties.
