This is the core and almost exclusive application area for alumina ceramic filter discs, a critical process step in the production of high-quality castings, especially high-end castings.
1. Aluminum Alloy Casting.
It is used to filter molten aluminum for aluminum castings such as
automotive parts (such as wheels, engine blocks, pistons), aerospace castings, and electronic product housings. It removes oxide inclusions such as Al₂O₃, significantly reduces defects such as porosity and slag pores in the castings, and improves the mechanical properties (such as fatigue strength and elongation) and the quality of the anodized surface.
2. Cast Iron Casting.
Filters high-end ductile iron and gray iron castings such as engine blocks, cylinder heads, brake discs, pumps, and valves.
3. Steel Casting
Filters molten steel such as stainless steel, alloy steel, and manganese steel. A higher-refractory filter disc (such as calcium zirconate) is required. This removes deoxidation products and oxide inclusions, improving the purity of the molten steel and significantly enhancing the impact toughness, fatigue resistance, and weldability of the castings.
4. Copper Alloy Casting
Filters copper castings such as plumbing components, valves, and marine engineering parts. This removes oxides from the molten copper, improving the density and pressure resistance of the castings.
