Product Description

Alumina ceramic filter discs are disc-shaped functional ceramics with a three-dimensional network of interconnected pores, made from high-purity aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) through a special formulation and molding process, followed by high-temperature sintering.

This high-performance porous ceramic element is specifically designed for liquid filtration, particularly molten metal filtration. Its core function is to utilize its evenly distributed pores to deeply filter non-metallic inclusions (such as oxides and slag) from molten metal, significantly improving the intrinsic quality of the final casting.

Performance and Advantages

1. Extremely high-temperature resistance. Alumina ceramic filter discs can withstand molten metal temperatures exceeding 1500°C for extended periods.
2. Excellent chemical stability. They have excellent chemical compatibility with various molten metals and are resistant to molten metal corrosion.
3. Excellent thermal shock resistance. They can withstand rapid thermal shocks from room temperature to molten metal temperatures without cracking.
4. Controllable filtration precision and high filtration efficiency. The pore size can be selected and designed based on the alloy type and cleanliness requirements. 5. Sufficient room temperature and high temperature strength. It can withstand the static pressure of molten metal and the impact force during pouring, and is not easy to break.

Application Areas

This is the core and almost exclusive application area for alumina ceramic filter discs, a critical process step in the production of high-quality castings, especially high-end castings.

1. Aluminum Alloy Casting.
It is used to filter molten aluminum for aluminum castings such as automotive parts (such as wheels, engine blocks, pistons), aerospace castings, and electronic product housings. It removes oxide inclusions such as Al₂O₃, significantly reduces defects such as porosity and slag pores in the castings, and improves the mechanical properties (such as fatigue strength and elongation) and the quality of the anodized surface.

2. Cast Iron Casting.
Filters high-end ductile iron and gray iron castings such as engine blocks, cylinder heads, brake discs, pumps, and valves.

3. Steel Casting
Filters molten steel such as stainless steel, alloy steel, and manganese steel. A higher-refractory filter disc (such as calcium zirconate) is required. This removes deoxidation products and oxide inclusions, improving the purity of the molten steel and significantly enhancing the impact toughness, fatigue resistance, and weldability of the castings.

4. Copper Alloy Casting
Filters copper castings such as plumbing components, valves, and marine engineering parts. This removes oxides from the molten copper, improving the density and pressure resistance of the castings.
