Product Description

Alumina ceramic washers or gaskets are annular seals or spacers made from industrial alumina (Al₂O₃) ceramic. The alumina content typically ranges from 92% to 99.5%, with higher purity yielding better performance. They are used between two or more components, primarily for insulation, heat isolation, wear and corrosion resistance, and sealing.

Ceramic washers are essential components in many specialized applications. While inconspicuous, they play a significant role.

Material Purity Options:

  • 95%-96% Alumina: Suitable for most industrial applications requiring wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and general insulation, offering the best value.
  • 99%-99.5% Alumina: Used in electronics and semiconductor applications requiring high frequency, high voltage, and high vacuum, offering superior performance but a higher price.

Performance Advantages

The value of alumina ceramic washers stems entirely from the exceptional properties of the material:

1. Excellent Electrical Insulation
  • Performance: Extremely high resistivity and dielectric strength at both room and elevated temperatures.
  • Value: Ideal for high-voltage and high-frequency insulation, preventing short circuits.

2. Excellent High-Temperature Resistance
  • Performance: Can withstand long-term operation at temperatures of 1500°C to 1600°C without melting or deformation.
  • Value: Used in high-temperature equipment as thermal isolation and insulation, their performance far exceeds that of plastic or rubber washers.

3. High Hardness and Excellent Wear Resistance
  • Performance: High hardness (Mohs hardness 9) and extreme wear resistance.
  • Value: Remains dimensionalally stable and resists damage in the presence of particulate matter or friction.

4. Chemical Corrosion Resistance
  • Performance: Highly resistant to most acids, alkalis, solvents, and corrosive gases.
  • Value: Suitable for harsh environments such as chemical and electroplating applications, without rusting or corroding like metal.

5. High compressive strength
  • Performance: Withstands significant compressive stress.
  • Value: Suitable as a spacer in heavy equipment, resists cracking under high pressure.

6. Low thermal expansion coefficient
  • Performance: Minimal dimensional change when heated.
  • Value: Maintains stable clearance and preload in environments with drastic temperature fluctuations.

Alumina ceramic washers are a classic example of "small parts with a big impact" industrial components. Despite their simple structure, their comprehensive insulation, heat resistance, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance make them irreplaceable and crucial in extreme operating conditions characterized by high temperatures, high pressures, and severe corrosion, where ordinary materials (such as rubber, plastic, and metal) struggle.

Application Areas

Alumina ceramic washers are widely used in various industrial fields that must withstand extreme conditions:

1. Electrical and Electronic Equipment
  • Applications: High-voltage switches, power supplies, induction heating equipment, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Purpose: Used as insulating gaskets to isolate active components and prevent arcing.

2. High-Temperature Heat Treatment Equipment
  • Applications: Melting furnaces, sintering furnaces, vacuum furnaces, and laboratory furnaces.
  • Purpose: Used as thermal insulation gaskets within furnaces to secure heating elements or workpieces while preventing heat transfer in unintended directions.

3. Chemical and Process Industries
  • Applications: Pumps, valves, reactors, and pipe flanges.
  • Purpose: Used as seals or insulating gaskets in corrosive media, providing chemical resistance.

4. Mechanical Equipment Manufacturing
  • Applications: Bearings moving in high-temperature environments and sensor mounting locations requiring electrical insulation.
  • Purpose: Used as wear-resistant gaskets or insulating seals to protect equipment.

5. Medical Devices and Analytical Instruments

  • Applications: Used within medical sterilization equipment and analytical instruments.
  • Purpose: Provides high-temperature insulation or chemically inert support.
